Your Story Matters

YOUR story can help make school meals for all a reality. Whether you’re a parent, educator, nutritionist, faith leader, businessperson, healthcare professional, or a concerned neighbor, sharing your experience and perspective may be what tips the debate in our favor. It’s the stories of real people and families that best convey the need for school meals for all. These stories can educate the public, local decision-makers, and state legislators.

It all starts with filling out this simple form. By sharing your story with us, we can identify effective ways for you to advocate for School Meals for All NC. From sharing your story during a coalition call, crafting an Op-Ed we work on together, appearing on a panel at a Town Hall, publishing your story as a blog post, or sharing your story with news media, there are numerous ways your story can be used to champion School Meals for All NC. Rest assured, we’ll prioritize what resonates most with you. Your stories help us understand where you are coming from and what matters most to you. After reviewing your story, we’ll follow up to talk about ways to share it.

Here are a few questions to help you craft your story:

  • Why do you care about school meals for all?
  • Do you have a child/children that attend a school with no-cost school meals? If so, what impact does this have on your family? And if not, what impact does this have on your family? When did you first become aware of chronic hunger in our schools?
  • How has hunger in our schools impacted you and/or people you’ve observed?
  • What do you want people to know about the problem of hunger in our schools and the benefits of no-cost school meals?
  • What else would you like to tell us about yourself and school meals for all?

THANK YOU for using your unique voice to support school meals for all.
